Dawn Of The #Oscars

The Oscars are the most prestigious awards in the international arena in the world of film. They are also known as Acamedia Awards / Academy Awards awarded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. For all professionals in this world is the highest echelon of film and honor.

Officially Oscar is known as the Academy Award of Merit and is the largest of the 9 that delivers the organization.  The act in which the awards are presented is the world's most prestigious being the broadcast live event more than one hundred countries.

Its origin came from the hand of President Luois B. Mayer's Metro (MGM) in order to improve the image of the film industry. The May 16, 1929 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles the first ceremony was held. The hearing was attended by over three hundred people. The typical party after the ceremony the guests took the paltry amount of $ 5 and was held at the Mayfair Hotel. In this first ceremony 15 statuettes were awarded.

The first winner was actor Emil Jannings for The Last Command and The Way Of All Flesh. In the first instance the actors were honored for different films. This change from the 4th Ceremony. Today a total of 302 actors have won Oscars.

There is only one film that was awarded four Oscars for his players, this event occurred in 1939 with Beau Geste.

The Academy Award of Merit this britannium made with gold on a black metal base, 34 cm high and 3.85 klg. Designed as naked knight Art Deco wielded a sword that lies on a toadstool film with five spokes.

Overseeing the design of the statue was the art director of the Metro, Cedric Gibbons.

The origin of the name Oscar is something that will probably never know exactly. There are different possibilities:

1st - Bette Davis claims that the statue was named so in honor of her first husband Oscar Nelson.

2 - In 1931, the executive secretary of the Academy, Margaret Herrick saw the award said: Seems Uncle Oscar.

3 - In 1939 the prize was named Oscar by the Academy.
